There is a large number of collared turtle doves
and turtle doves in Romania.
The turtle doves are transiting wildfowl with highest
densities in the months of August - September, which is also
the best hunting period. They prefer the plains in southern country,
with wide areas cultivated with sunflower, wheat and millet.
Turtle doves hunting is practiced in silent hunt,
on cultivated fields, or at the edge of the forest, waiting for
the bird transfer to their feeding places.
The collared turtle pigeons hunt is practiced near
villages, awaiting their passage from the fields to the village
or near the cereal silos.
A good hunting day offers a hunter the possibility
to shoot down about 12 - 25 pieces.
